Cross Country Information
Registration opens in June and closes end of August. Practices will begin Mid August
Welcome back to CYO Cross Country for 2024! We are very excited to kick off the season.
The Archdiocese CYO Coaches meet together toward the end of August/September. Once this takes place, we will be updating parents about the meet schedule, and overall expectations toward the end of August/early September.
Practices typically begin mid August. Once a coach is in place, an email containing season details and practice days/locations will be sent. We strongly encourage parents of our youngest, and new runners to stay on location for the first few practices so that their children transition to the team and activity with ease. Please send your child to practice with a water bottle, and weather friendly running clothes. Practice lasts roughly 1 hour, and the time will move to earlier as it starts getting darker earlier.
Athletes run different distances and race courses based on their birth year:
Sub Novice/PeeWee (born 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) - 2 kilometers or 1.24 miles
Novice (born 2014, 2015) - 3k or 1.86 miles
Minor (born 2012, 2013) - 3k or 1.86 miles
Cadet (born after 9/1 of 2009, 2010, 2011) - 4k or 2.48 miles
Tentative Schedule
Regular Season:

- In-Season meets are at a neighboring high school and run from 1:00 - approx 4:00 pm
- AOP championships TBD
Post Season:
- National championships on TBD
* Pre-Season Meets, In-Season Meets and Area Championships are part of the Regular season
***Regional and National championships are optional meets and are part of the post-season (the post-season is optional for any runners age 6 and up by 12/31/24)
Trail locations:
Charlestown Park: 100 Academic Way, Phoenixville, PA 19460 The group meets near the volleyball court, closest to the large pavillions.
St Gabe's: From Phoenixville at Route 23 and Pawlings Road, go left onto Pawlings Road for approx 1.75 miles. Make left onto Station Ave, parking lot will be on your right (the left onto Station Ave is just before the road goes over Route 422 - a new traffic light has been installed at the intersection)
Von Steuben: Take route 23 into VF Park. Stay left on route 23 (not Gulph road, which will split to the right). The next parking lot on the right is the meeting spot (statue of Von Steuben is in the field next to this lot)
Cromby: 817 Township Line Rd, Phoenixville, PA 19460 - coming down Route 23 from downtown Phoenixville, just past the intersection of 113, make a right onto Township Line Road. Go past 2 stop signs and the parking lot will be on the left just before the entrance to the old PECO plant (look for the yellow trail railings on both sides of the road).
POSA House: 99 Owen Drive, Phoenixville, PA - Take Route 23 towards Valley Forge, just before the intersection with Route 252, make a right onto Owen Drive (very small road, the next right after Colonial Spring Road). Parking lot is the first left off this Road.
Lock 60 Trail: From downtown Phoenixville, go down Bridge Street and over the bridge (towards Produce Junction). Make a left in the middle of the bridge onto Tow Path Road (before you hit Produce Junction). If you reach the light (at Walnut/Jacobs Sts), you have gone too far. Follow the road just over a half mile and the parking lot will be on your left.
